84. Author: McCaig`s Tower Date: Sun 16th Feb 2025. 15:06 What kompromat could the Russians have on Trump? Details of sexual assault? Evidence that he encouraged the overthrow of an elected government? Proof of financial fraud? They say Trump is a Russian asset. I don`t think that means he is in the pay of the Kremlin, more that he is amoral and has no view of right or wrong other than "might is right". Malfeasance need not be punished. There are no consequences to his actions, or at least, none that concerns him. This is one downside of electing amateurs to challenge the orthodoxy. Sometimes they don`t know what they are doing, or why things are done as they are. Reply |

86. Author: widtink Date: Sun 16th Feb 2025. 22:46 I have a good friend who is Russian but now lives and works over here .... His take on this whole thing as it stands .... Just for the sake of a different viewpoint. The world is undergoing massive changes. Countries like those in the BRICS are openly discussing, planning and negotiating the new roles. Meanwhile, the Western world struggles with acknowledging the diminishing global dominance. Admitting that the era of being the top dog is over and that we`re shifting back to power diplomacy, is a bitter pill for us to swallow. We prefer to close our eyes and act as if it`s all just a bad dream. Trump, however, is well aware of this shift. Unlike other Western leaders, he is prepared to openly voice the preparation for the change without acknowledging the reasons for it outloud. Trump recognises that if he emulates the British Empire`s approach during its decline, the U.S. will be f****d. However, by accepting change as inevitable, retreating strategically, regrouping, and prioritizing America it will/should keep America very Great indeed, but if USA is no longer an empire and concentrates on its self what does it mean for us? the question we have to ask and the answer i am afraid is not a good one (for us and the rest of Europe) Vance is a reasonably smart guy. He didn`t say anything that wasn`t true, discussions of Europe`s decline in freedom of speech was talk around kitchen tables for a while now. However, what he omitted from his speech was arguably more telling - there was no mention of Ukraine, which was the elephant in the room, the only thing Europeans wanted to talk about and US basically told them that they are in the back seat and being sidelined, be quite, shut up, big boys are talking lol Europe got royally slapped in the face and there is zero we can do about it. In fact the more we shout the worse it will be because the weakness is on show like laundry hanging out to dry 😂 To put it simply Russia won the war. Europe is refusing to admit it but US can see the writing on the wall and Trump is backing out leaving Europe owning the defeat. The idea of a European army has been discussed for years, especially just before Brexit, as I recall. If this goes through, it could completely dash Ukraine`s chances of EU membership, but it seems they`re too oblivious to realise this. Remember, the Russians had no issue with Ukraine joining the EU, provided they could maintain their trade bloc with Ukraine, given how many Ukrainian businesses depended on it. EU insisted in 2014 that Ukraine had to choose between them and Russia, and then instigated the regime change together with the US and here we are today. Thoughts ? Admin ![]() Reply |

Nothing to do with nato contributions. USA have always, and will always spend crazy money on that. Their economy allows it. The electorate of European countries don`t believe it is necessary. Now that the threat of an expanding conflict is becoming more likely, European governments can justify spending more. ![]() Reply |
88. Author: ipswichpar Date: Mon 17th Feb 2025. 11:31 Agreed.....developing weapons and then selling them to others at a profit isn`t really a spending on defence.... I was hoping over the weekend to find a trustworthy source to try and better understand the actual data. Might have to get that Economist subscription after all. Reply |

98. Author: Bletchley_Par Date: Wed 19th Feb 2025. 23:23 Zelesnsky will fight to the last man if we fund his habit long enough. Trump is not an ideologue..."Of course he is an ideologue!!!" I hear you TDS sufferers scream while furiously googling "what is an ideologue?". But this is why he makes the perfect peacemaker. Unlike the EU leaders and our current Prime Minister who undoubtedly are ideologue given beautifly effin illustrated by their response to JD Vance`s speech in Munich. This war started in 2014 and in some ways probably before that. Millions of people have already died and Ukraine has been under martial law since 2018 and political opposition outlawed. It`s difficult to see it as anything but a failed state. 11 political parties outlawed, Former MP`s of the Ukrainian parliament stripped of their citizenship, seized the bank accounts of opposition leaders and elections cancelled. The EU have already ploughed the road to what their response will be to any US arranged armistice, the EU seem more concerned that Trump could win the Nobel peace prize than anything else. Leverage is everything, the only leverage Zelensky appears to have is the Chernobyl Nuclear husk, which should focus western minds given that Zelensky has professed a desire for Ukraine to have nuclear weapons. This ****-show has to end, this EU/Biden funded war must be over and the hundreds of thousands of holes in the ground filled with the men the warmongers have sent to battle grow grass. ![]() Reply |
99. Author: hurricane_jimmy Date: Wed 19th Feb 2025. 23:34 Bletchley, three questions: (i) From which institution were you bestowed a law degree? (ii) From which institution were you bestowed Physics degree? (iii) From which institution were you bestowed a history or politics degree specialising in the relationship between Russia and former Soviet states? (Or will you go with the line that we are brainwashed by expert professors?) If you do not posses either of these, then why are you even trying? The glaringly obvious ridiculousity (is that a word?) is the fact that you`re complaining about Chernobyl but conveniently forgetting about Zaporizhzhia. My bet is that he simply ignores the questions because he knows he doesn`t know. Moron. Post Edited (Wed 19 Feb 23:37) Reply |
