However no-one suddenly not having a gun isn`t going to happen. If I was living in America I think I`d probably want to have a gun, at least at home, as well. And although my eyes were open They just might as well be closed Reply |

385. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 11th Sep 2025. 13:44 [n this country people don`t expect to be confronted by a gunman in their own home, so few guns are bought for purposes of self-defence. In the US many do have that fear so they buy a gun to defend themselves. I`m not sure making it more difficult to buy a gun would change that attitude now. Reply |
386. Author: Luxembourg Par Date: Thu 11th Sep 2025. 15:14 I have a gun in my home - I am a member at a shooting range - but I have been informed quite specifically that it must not be used in self-defence. The attitude of the police is… If I hear an intruder breaking into my house, and then I have time to 1. open my (mandatory) gun safe, 2. open my (mandatory, separate) ammo safe, 3. then load the (mandatorily unloaded) magasine, 4. then put the mag back in the gun… Clearly I would have had enough time to run out the back door and call the police. They would then consider firing the gun to be a premeditated action, rather than self defence whilst in fear of my life. Gun crime and armed robbery is very rare here, police are always armed and have tasers. However, a significant portion of Luxo’s have guns, for target shooting or for hunting (lots of deer and boar in the forests). ![]() Reply |
