For me it all comes down to how effective he is and that applies to all players. Some times he tries hard some time he looks lost, will he be more effective in a better team.
And this where it gets difficult, seeing how badly we have performed this year, can we take the chance, i think we have to start again with forwards and attacking midfielders.

Jesus this .net is mental….

Don’t think anyone has said that at all. I think what folk are calling out is the constant barrage towards one player, bringing him up every week even when he doesn’t play.

He’s now injured and quite possibly will not play for us again and still this thread continues going in circles about his ability from the same people. Folk are just repeating themself constantly, when really theres no need for it now.

Ridiculous amount of repetitive posts about a player. The excitement of new owners and the appointment of NL surely means we trust his judgement?

By all means, express opinions, that’s what the forum is for, but as already said, this thread is just going round in circles.

Time to close it.

Well said, SP. It`s the same few posters who repeatedly inform us how useless certain players are, quoting stats like the number of goals or assist they`ve made per game. Lewis McCann is probably their favourite target. This thread carries his name, which is used as a reason to justify the pile on, but he`s had plenty of pelters in other threads.

I wonder how many fans are aware that McCann and Chris Kane are top of the MOTM nominations with 5 each this season?

I`d love nothing more than McCann to add value to us and take us where we want to be but I`m not going to say he is when he isn`t at the level required.

So ye keep saying. Over and over and over. Give it a rest

Apparently McCann is my favourite target I`m waiting on the usual saying are you even a pars fan ? Patter. If you don`t want to see comments about McCann maybe don`t read the thread about him.

c'mon the pars

I look forward to Neil Lennon signing a couple of decent strikers for next season and McCann will be forgotten about.

McCanns stats:

Taken from this and last season, where he has played consistently:

23/24

Goal per 90: 0.17
Assist per 90: 0.04
Goal involvement: 0.22
Mins per goal: 521min

24/25

Goal per 90: 0.11
Assist per 90: 0.11
Goal involvement: 0.22
Mins per goal: 803min

*Championship stats only

Hes a forward player, there are defenders with better goal involvement record over the past 2 seasons.

Not great stats kind of backs up most people’s thoughts. Shame that he is out for a while if that’s the case. Definitely a player that could be doing without missing preseason given he normally looks gassed after an hour. Hopefully it isn’t as bad as being mentioned.

The lad picked up a bad injury and is out for at least the rest of the season, possibly longer, but let`s keep hammering him with stats. I don`t dispute these and in isolation they don`t make good reading but as I posted further up, he`s picked up more MOTM awards than any other player (5) and equal with Chris Kane. I`m not saying that makes him a world beater but maybe he`s not as poor as some are making out. 🤔

Does it make you feel good anonymously bashing the same young man over and over again?

My names David McGuire, anonymous. No.

I get your point GG, but a player wins man of the match whether we win 5 nil or we get humped 5 nil.

The frustration will Mccann is he has all the attributes to be playing at a higher level but for some reason it just never seems to come together. We get the odd glimpse but it needs to be more.
I think next season is make or break for him.

I wish Lewis a speedy recovery. His physicality will be missed but as a team we will need to move forward. A significant change is needed up front, new strikers and wingers I am sure will be on the shopping list.

Taking Kane out the equation, who`s above McCann in those stats? Cooper possibly?

While I `m not disregarding those stats, I think there needs to be a bit of context too. As a team we`ve been woeful at creating chances, not just this season but last too.
Without Kane we are toothless, but I feel McCann works well with him and has been involved in a fair number of his goals.
McCann definitely lacks composure in front of goal, but I feel his off the ball work is excellent.

Whilst I am not critical of mcanm in a personal manner, and none of of us should be, I try to only compare on football effectiveness.but for whatever reason mcann does seem to attract a lot of stick, don`t understand why.
We could start a thread about 7 or 8 of the team about lack of effectiveness,, it`s football/supporters forum after all. but that does not happen..
Its odd isn`t it,
