162. Author: kelty_par Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 12:53 Disagree with the points about Hamilton and Todd above. With Hamilton, if you ask him to be a screen in front of the defence, to drop into the back line as an extra centre half when one progresses the ball (not something we`ve seen until Chilokoa-Mullen started doing it recently) and who can get into good spaces to intercept passes and buy cheap defensive free kicks then he`s perfectly fine at this level. It`s when we ask him to be a deep lying playmaker or a progressive passer when his limitations are laid bare. It`s noticeable how easy we are to break through when he`s not playing. On Todd, he`s the only midfielder we have that breaks the lines and get ahead of the forwards and chips in with goals and assists. I think it`s very noticeable that we seem to play better ad a team when he plays. Similar to Kane in that he gets you up the park and has a bit of energy about him. I`d think he`s more than capable of playing at this level with a clean bill of health and also having a defined role in the team rather than everything being expected of him. He`d be an ideal box to box man, pressing machine in the Ryan Christie mould or as a second striker but he`s being asked to do too much. That`s not got anything to do with him being a local boy or a fan either. Reply |

165. Author: Never10yairds Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 13:45 Iād be happy enough with Matty Todd being kept on as a squad player. Heās showed us glimpses of what he is capable of over the past few years. If he gets a good preseason behind him and can stay fit, maybe he will develop and show us more of the good stuff. Worth a punt if he isnāt asking too much in wages. Reply |
166. Author: CitizenPar Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 13:47 Lewis McCann looks to me to have all the attributes of an old fashioned centre forward, as has Connor Young. If Lewis is here next season, it`ll be interesting to see how Neil Lennon utilises these two, along with Chris Kane. Of course, there will also be Keith Bray to consider, though he can apparently play several positions. Reply |

168. Author: Paralex Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 14:30 My feeling too. Better with Lewis McCann than without him. We`ve invested quite a lot in McCann and Todd. It would be great to see them both mature into very useful players for us. The league we are in is full of hard men and tattie howkin` hackers and requires a fair amount of streetwise wisdom to cope with that, so the more players with growing experience we have the better. Of course it`s up to the management to discern which players have the capacity to develop and which don`t. Reply |
169. Author: SeasonedPar Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 16:42 Ridiculous amount of repetitive posts about a player. The excitement of new owners and the appointment of NL surely means we trust his judgement? By all means, express opinions, thatās what the forum is for, but as already said, this thread is just going round in circles. Time to close it. Reply |
170. Author: GG Riva Date: Mon 21st Apr 2025. 17:09 SeasonedPar, Mon 21 Apr 16:42 Well said, SP. It`s the same few posters who repeatedly inform us how useless certain players are, quoting stats like the number of goals or assist they`ve made per game. Lewis McCann is probably their favourite target. This thread carries his name, which is used as a reason to justify the pile on, but he`s had plenty of pelters in other threads. I wonder how many fans are aware that McCann and Chris Kane are top of the MOTM nominations with 5 each this season? ![]() Not your average Sunday League player.
