What`s fair about suggesting a manager`s sacking is linked to a particular player`s selection? I just don`t follow the logic.

He`s been better last wee while playing through the middle.

Never a left winger or wide player though but in fairness he has probably played there about 80%+ of the time.

Just gets very frustrating that things like timing in the air and judging flight of the ball still seems to be erratic even with all the experience under his belt. Want him to be a right nasty b*****d old school target man; backing in with hips, bottom & elbows and being a general nightmare to play against. Has all the physical atrributes for it !

The comments from Martindnale a few weeks ago were interesting. He`s cetrtainly a fan and would fit in perfectly to the style he likes to play if he does indeed move on.

Do you read your own contributions before you press `post`, cammy? What does `Good to see you`re true to myoe here Eck` mean?

It was you who suggested there was a link between managers playing McCann and getting sacked. Why him specifically?

And you`re another who is arrogant enough to think that, if somebody responds to one of your posts, you `live in their head rent free`. It`s a forum for goodness sake.

McCann is the topic of the thread 🤷‍♂️ do you read the thread your posting on ?

And if you can find the quote where I said McCann was the only reason these guys got their jotters then feel free to share it. McCann hasn't scored enough goals which for a striker is pretty important. I shared his stats it's all there to see his contribution to games is nowhere near good enough for the level the club wants to be. Remember the time you were saying wighton was good enough for this level and look where he ended up mid table L1 probably the same level McCann will go.

Along with quite a few others I hope he is moved on at the end of the season.

Not nearly good enough as has been proven and plays like he does not enjoy the game.

Various managers have been caught with how or where to play him, none have found the answer.

While teams do need players who give their all and best every week they need more, like players who can actually play football and have a bit of quality.

McCann was in the squad that got us relegated last time, never set the heather on fire in league one and we’ve almost been relegated twice in the last 2 years.

While he may try and put effort on we need a lot more than just that.

What exactly does this mean if not that there was a link between playing McCann and getting sacked?

If we`re going back to discussing old posts about Wighton then any fair-minded person would bear in mind that he has been dogged by injury the last two seasons which has obviously affected his form. When he went to Montrose I think the club said it suited him to join a part-time club just now as he couldn`t train full-time. Whether this has a permanent effect on his career path remains to be seen. I still think a fully-fit Wighton could handle the Championship.

You can quote all the stats you like about individual players but the fact is the goals haven`t exactly flowed when either McCann or Wighton have not been in the team. It`s not hard to understand the reason for that.

Sorry to jump in but a fully fit Wighton cannot handle the Championship.

A fully fit Wighton would be a great addition to a League One side but he is nowhere near good enough for the Championship.

Cooper has scored more and only played 500 odd minutes?

If we want to be in the top 4 we can`t keep a guy because he runs around. We need our strikers to score.

Spot on Cammypar, just like Yeboah runs around a lot and never looks like scoring.

We need quality up front and wide areas, aswell as all over the pitch, but we are never going to get anywhere near promotion with McCann in the team.

So, Lewis McCann and Connor Young both out. Who will Lenny partner with Kane now? Yeboah? Cooper?

100% this. He and a few others quite simply are not good enough, players that have been around our squad for a good few seasons and served up mediocrity, and because they are either a fan favourite or are a local boy/come through the ranks get a bit of a free ride. I honestly would keep about 5 current players for next season. A massive clearance is required.

I honestly believe McCann has been played by every manager in the last few years because all signs point to him being an incredible asset.
Physically he has the makings of a great forward - strong, fast, tall, good work ethic.
He just lacks consistency in ability and a footballing brain - something that, by contrast, Kane definitely has.
Because of this so many of our attacks break down once it reaches him because of a poor touch or the wrong decision to pass/shoot/dribble. This is amplified because of his work ethic - he never hides and always gets involved which highlights his mistakes more than others.
I bet every manager who has come in has thought they can be the one to make Lewis finally click and produce a quality forward at this level but so far it just hasn`t happened.
I don`t think Lennon has had enough time with McCann to see if he can make it all work out, especially since this end of the season has very much been about grinding any results out rather than development.
So I would be quite happy to see him here next season not necessarily as a starter every week but with less pressure, better players around him and one of the top managers in Scotland behind him and see if he can finally fulfil his potential. If that still doesn`t work then reckon it`s time to move on.

Athletico it might be an unpopular opinion aswell but I agree with your point and Chris Hamilton and Matty Todd are prime examples of that. Plenty effort and not a lot else however because there’s Pars fans we should just accept it.

I would agree Lewis doesn`t score enough goals but I think there are various considerations;

1. He hasn`t had the service from the midfield.
2. When he is on the ball there are usually at least two defenders on him. The inference here is he is considered a goal threat
3. He has the physical attributes to make a centre forward
4. In my view he doesn`t anticipate enough. It takes tgat split second to get away from defenders
5. In my view he doesn`t lift his head enough
I have seen him in space shouting fir tge ball but not getting it. That`s the midfield not lifting their head enough
6. He mistimed his headers quite a bit, but that`s also under pressure from defenders
7. He is too emotionally involved sometimes. Tries too hard sometimes so I think he loses focus. He needs to disconnect and focus his game

Do I think he will be at EEP next season- yes I do. I think there is something to work on there.

When I watch McCann I think of Robbie Muirhead who spent a season with us in 2018/19. I see from his stats he made 12 League appearances for us and didn`t score a goal. I doubt anyone was surprised or disappointed to see him leave or maybe even expected him to continue as a full-time footballer but he had five seasons at Morton before signing for Livingston. He could be playing in the Premiership next season. Muirhead has similar physical attributes to McCann and when he left us he was 23, the same age as McCann is now.

I think `football people` view players differently from your average fan and aren`t obsessed by `stats` if they see potential they think they can develop. It was interesting that David Martindale, who took Muirhead to Livi, spoke highly of McCann after we beat his team 1-0.

If Lennon is given the budget to try and win the league next year then it’s irrelevant whether Lennon can get more out of him as he won’t be in the starting 11 and might well be 4th choice striker.

Agree on Todd and Hamilton, Hamilton I expect will be released and Todd will be on the bench next season if we’re talking about competing at the top of the league.

You look at McCann and you think this guy has everything going for him, then the game starts.
