I don`t think you`ve answered the question about why so many managers have continued to select him during his time at the club. Given their success depends on the decisions they make we would have to assume they rated him. Raymie made the same point earlier.

And all those managers have been sacked wee Eck pretty much sums it up. Lenny plays him as he is the best of a bad bunch. If Lenny stays he will strengthen up front and McCann will probably play less frequently.

He`s a much better player than Paul Allen, the only player that can compare to, i.e. he`s been here for years, but little if any improvement, but I feel for his own good it`s probably time to move on, he`s needing to kick on at his age.

Football is not kindergarden, they pretty much have to be up and running (this is 2nd tier Scotland we are talking about) at 19 at the latest. It`s not our job to keep people indefinitely just because of hope.

He`s a big strong lad, can run fast, I feel for him a bit, because he looks a bit worried, but yes, most of his career has been scraping at the bottom of the second tier or in the 3rd tier. He has plenty attributes also .

It`s up to NL , if he feels he can get something from him , then go for it.

I feel if we extended his contract he will be wasting a year of his career, when he`s probably better starting afresh-like Paul Allen, find his level then kick on.

We will have better options, we need something new anyway, can`t be having the car crash of the last 2 seasons.

So everybody who has played for a manager who has been sacked is useless, Cammy! That just about sums up the logic of some contributors on here.

According to transfermarkt website McCann is still under contract till the end of next season. So unless some team makes an offer for him I’d expect him to still be here.

Anyway, does anyone have any info on his injury? I’m sure his knee has been mentioned and that he is out for the rest of the season. Seeing as the rest of the season is only 2-4 weeks that doesn’t really help identify how serious an injury it is.

My understanding, 7eleven, is that it’s a hamstring injury.
The manager has said that his injury is a bad one. We won’t see him this season

I guess my real question is whether he is going to be out for pre-season?

It was a 2 year deal with the option of another year. Guessing we have to agree to take up the option if we want it and we certainly haven’t done so as yet. Unless he trains like a beast, Lenny won’t have seen anything on the pitch to suggest he can take us forward. It’s 4.5 months since his last goal now and he went almost a calendar year without a goal not long before that.

I’d argue he’s been the main benefactor of our ongoing policy of signing untried raw youngsters who just are not up to it at this level rather than playing based on performance.

This policy will likely be discontinued for next season. We already have young and Kane on the books and I’d expect another striker to be brought in given Kane’s fitness struggles so if we keep him he’ll be 4th placed striker at best and then surely released at the end of next season.

I saw him in legends at half time. Not wearing any kind of brace and in good spirits.

Classic Berkey! He thinks he knows as much about a player as Neil Lennon. If he can`t see it, neither will Neil. PMSL...

Good to see you`re true to myoe here Eck. If someone answers your question don`t post utter bollocks if you don`t like the answer. As you`re more than aware that`s not what they said. Mcpake kept McCann here and he couldn`t cope at this level and was quite rightly released from his duties after poor recruitment and an even worse standard of football. Same with yogi and let`s not even talk about Tidser.

McCann stats speak for themselves. If you want a striker who doesn`t score and has been relegated and limped across the line to safety twice for this club then good for you. I would prefer us to sign guys to challenge for top 4 and I`ve already shown why McCann isn`t one of those players.

Unfortunately not. McCann just isn`t good enough at this level and more people than not seem to agree.

If we are serious about trying to get promoted and out this league we need better than McCann.

Do you read your own contributions before you press `post`, cammy? What does `Good to see you`re true to myoe here Eck` mean?

It was you who suggested there was a link between managers playing McCann and getting sacked. Why him specifically?

And you`re another who is arrogant enough to think that, if somebody responds to one of your posts, you `live in their head rent free`. It`s a forum for goodness sake.

In fairness, Wee Eck - why McCann specifically - probably because he is the topic of this thread...
