It`s understandable that fans have different opinions about a player`s ability but what I find strange about the views on McCann is that some think he`s lazy and some disagree. Surely this is measurable with these GPS monitors players wear nowadays? If he was slacking wouldn`t it show up in his readings and presumably some corrective action would be taken?

Aside from Chris Kane, the playing squad is Championship level. I expect Neil Lennon will work hard at getting the right mix of releases and signings in the close season to support a top four challenge. I would like to see Lewis McCann a Pars player next season.

My names David McGuire, anonymous. No.

I get your point GG, but a player wins man of the match whether we win 5 nil or we get humped 5 nil.

I wasn`t specifically having a pop at you, David, nor indeed any poster who doesn`t rate Lewis McCann. It`s the continual, repetitive nature of these posts. You be forgiven for thinking Lewis had something pretty horrible to you or a member of your family. Fair enough, this thread bears his name but there have been plenty of others that didn`t and still ended up slagging him. If you read these, would be informed that he`s lazy, has a poor touch, no game intelligence, poor ball control, doesn`t look up, poor final ball, doesn`t use his physique well, etc.

I know being voted MOTM doesn`t make him a great player and sometimes we scratch our heads when it`s announced and wonder if the sponsors have swallowed a fair bit of wine or beer before the game, but there must be others who never get one but are never pilloried to the same extent.

Why do some posters feel the need to have a scapegoat?

Not your average Sunday League player.

Unfortunately GG, this is where this platform struggles
I agree with you with regards to the repetitive nature of these posts but on the other side of that is the repetitive nature of those trying to argue with the previous post, this ultimately leads to name calling and petty insults wherever there is that opportunity to do so

Most of the time this place is a forum in name only as reasoned debate is very rare which is unfortunate......

Just look at the Aberdeen away game..he went missing and didn’t track back for their second goal….that has been a problem for him over this season and blames everyone else apart from his lazy play.
There is definitely a player there but might be time to move on to a new team/challenge.
Rovers fans rate him so might end up there unless Lennon can get the lad going.

If we want promoted next season, then we
have to have better players than McCann.
He`s had enough chances we do not need him.

Like many he is a confidence player.
When your manager backs you, you play well and the fans applaud - all is well.
Until one isn`t.
I can`t remember the game last season ( we lost - as we did a lot) - he with a few of the team went over to the North West at the end and he got absolute pelters.
He walked away really red face ( not from running around) with tears in his eyes.

What gives us the right to shout at and abuse a person for trying their hardest but not doing well enough on their shift.

I don`t think for a second he is the full monty - yet - in a team doing well and giving him the ball and having players running ahead of him or alongside him - there are far far worse players out there. It may not happen but I think he is far better suited to a top team with better players around him, than a lowly team with same or worse players around him. Which we are right now.

And I will add Chalmers and O`Halloran to that short list of players better suited to better teams and wouldn`t be out of place alongside them.

We may get a couple of surprises who Lenny keeps on/offers contracts to for next season. And I will back his judgement over mine !

Coventry par, the 3 players you have mentioned
are simply not good enough. Would any of
them get into a Falkirk team or a Livingston team.

I agree that Lewis will be better with better players around him. This has been an up and down season. The lack of goals can be attributed to many things and are not just the responsibility of one individual. There has been the adoption of a playing style that doesn`t suit the players, changes in management and ideas, changes on ownership, poor playing surface, lots of injuries and lack of a consistency as a result in terms of performances. Hopefully, with the right management team in place, players can develop to their full potential. It`s been a tough season this year, probably the toughest I have experienced in my 40+ years watching Dunfermline. It will be important to reflect on the things that went wrong and move on to next year with a bit more optimism. Sometimes you need to experience the bad to appreciate the good.

I think the “local lads” might be kept on next season, even as squad players to keep the connection to the youth system.

However, I think we need to be looking at better players for the first team though. If the likes of McCann, Todd, Tod and Hamilton can get in the team ahead of better players then they’ll have shown they are at the level required.

Part of me hopes they’ll be here and that they can force their way into a successful side.

Same folk same comments repeatedly.
