403. Author: DAFCinBK Date: Wed 9th Jul 2025. 21:21 Thank you Berkey for sharing this cheerful insight: "there is a massive step up between even league 1 and the championship." Given how many years we have spent in league 1 over the last decade or so, do you really think anyone needs reminding of that? Why on earth can`t people get excifed to see us developing promising young players? They may not yet be championship winners but they are young and will develop with experience. This forum attracts an incredible collection of miserablists. Reply |
404. Author: neilholland999 Date: Wed 9th Jul 2025. 21:33 This forum also attracts some people who make out that someone is negative/miserable simply because they are questioning whether the targets/signings (to date) align with the ambitions of the club and the fans. There needs to be a bit of balance here. Post Edited (Wed 09 Jul 21:34) Reply |

They may not yet be championship winners but they are young and will develop with experience` Developing players isn`t a bad thing. But I won`t be excited by it. Bryne is the only player who we have developed who has sustained a FT career, and he needed to be let go and further developed by livi. Jordon white would be the other who again needed to be let go, try Ireland(before it European money massively boosted it) fail, go PT and take a few years before getting back to establishing at FT and getting decent bottom end premiership minutes. I don`t see much from the current crop where they can demand a higher status than those guys, and they are the absolute best we`ve developed. I am also very unhappy about the story/fantasy that GMBH tried to sell that somehow a developed player was better than a new player even if the outside player was better, it was and always will be fucking stupid. So whilst I`d like to develop youngsters, a winning team is way way more important and unless the youngster is an exceptional talent, that normally means we should have an experienced player in front of them. 407. Author: wee eck Date: Wed 9th Jul 2025. 22:01 It`s a bit defeatist to say it hasn`t worked in the past so why should it work now. Other clubs seem to make it work. Hamilton have just sold two 16 year-olds down South and I don`t think either had played for the first team. Celtic signed a young guy from Morton. English clubs and some from farther afield seem to be taking a real interest in the Scottish market again. Rory MacLeod who we`re supposed to be interested in spent last season on loan from DU to Southampton. Reply |

410. Author: DAFCinBK Date: Wed 9th Jul 2025. 23:33 I`m old enough to remember us developing McNamara and selling for a club record fee of £600k 30 years ago. One or two even half as good as that and we are suddenly financing a complete squad overhaul. As far as I can see, noone is saying that a few promising youngsters means we no longer need several more established players. Above all, our manager is not saying that. I know there is the possibility of getting some revenue from this cup if we progress a little, but really this year it will be essentially pre-season. I fully expect Hearts to beat us comfortably, but it will be good experience for our current squad. I also expect we will be a much stronger squad and unit once the league starts. Reply |

We will get 4 or 5 experienced guys in - Lenny has told us, as has his assistant. Might be close to the wire for the end of the window though. We all want a Steven Fletcher or a Craig Gordon but there will be one big signing and 3 or 4 very decent ones. And 6 or 7 to go out on loan now that they have evaluated them Sam Young - both Sutherlands - Andrew Tod - Keith Bray ( 4 yrs left on his contract so worth that investment) Will be 2 or 3 already told to find another club or fight for your place ...- Sam Fisher - dare I say Benedictus - Ngwenya - KRH Let`s all ( me included) just try to chill as it happens. Was that a just a Tesco value nonsense? Also, noticed someone`s comment further up saying Wanyama wasn`t on our squad list anymore .... But also recall reading somewhere that he`s bought a house in Kinross.... I can`t keep up with the rumours and threads! Lol Would be so good to be a fly on the wall at EEP just now. Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out, dare I say it... I feel positive after being at the EK, Kelty and East fife games! Roll on Hearts on Saturday can`t wait. Reply |

418. Author: Bandy Date: Thu 10th Jul 2025. 09:32 Every time the McNamara transfer comes up I get the boak. £650k for probably the best right back in Scotland, at the same time the Rovers were selling Stephen McAnespie (decent enough player but nowhere near McNamara) to Bolton for £900k. An absolutely stinking deal for us. Reply |
