We’re more likely to be in for Kyle Vassell, ex-Killie captain.

He`s just signed for the Colorado Switchbacks in the USL Championship (2nd tier of USA football).

Probably going to either have to look further afield to bring in the striker or hope a club and player have a fallout so they become available.

^^ the first part should have been happening anyway and with the rumoured figure for Kirk although the Press claiming its a bit less, you would think the club would be looking in a bigger pool than normal too with that kind of money around......i wouldnt be putting the likes of Nisbet and Murray in that category though.

Thought I would bump this up as I imagine it will be a talking point as the clock ticks down before the transfer window closes..

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Damn right but will, fully expect 1 or 2 strikers signed this week. We simply have to if we’re going to give ourselves a chance of competing for top 4.

We’ll it’s certainly now or never. If someone of quality is not brought in to help and assist Kane then it’s going to hamper our season. I’ve had faith in Lennon and believed he was working away on someone and has just been waiting on something, really hope I’m not wrong.

Lennon isn’t daft, he’s said numerous times we lack goals in the team.

He’s also said we’ve been close to bringing in striker a few times and nothing been finalised.

I dread to think what the seasons going to be like if we don’t bring in another one.

It’s not really up to the manager to do the deals. He may well have identified some and asked the club to get them signed.

And it`s not necessarily the club`s fault either. Even with the potential of a sizeable budget, the last thing anyone wants to do is overpay. You`ll also have players who don`t fancy a move to Scotland (if looking abroad) as it involves shifting their family.

It`s pretty obvious the reason we haven`t signed a striker is that it`s very difficult to find one who fits the profile we`re looking for in terms of experience, ability, style of play, affordability, willingness to play in the Scottish Championship, etc. The fact that we`ve been linked with Makenzie Kirk suggests we have shown a bit of flexibility in applying these criteria but still no success.

And yet some fans seem to think we should have had this sorted at the start of the transfer window...

I’m not saying it’s the club’s fault. Just saying that the manager doesn’t hand out contracts to new players.

Totally. Just building on what you`ve said that it`s not a case that Lennon says "I want this guy" and it magically happens. Loads of negotiation involved in addition to the cost. Also, all the competition. Finding an experienced goal scorer who is willing to play in the Scottish championship for a couple of grand a week and isn`t injury prone is a bit like finding a hen with teeth!

The worry is that we have put all our eggs in one basket chasing Kirk, fail, and end up really short up top for yet another 4 months before the next window.

It seems the Kirk bid was dead a few weeks ago and how do you know we haven`t been chasing other targets before or since then? Cosgrove was one who didn`t want to return to Scotland and he`s now in NZ.

That’s my fear also that we’ve tried so hard for Kirk that we won’t have time to get any deals done.

I said months ago for a joke that I’d be raging if we didn’t bring anyone new in and end up resigning Lewis McCann. Yet here we are 1 week left of transfer window and no new striker and McCann is still without a club 🤦🏻‍♂️

I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️ but there’s a possibility it’s whats happening since theres zero other rumours kicking about.

does fotheringham moving to perth now open up a path for Kirk to move?

It would be bitterly disappointing if we don`t bring someone in after all the hype, in saying that though, i still think a lot of folk got carried away with themselves, we were never challenging the top 3 this season.

If Kirk moves presumably it will be to England as clubs down there have already outbid clubs up here. He would seem to be a bit of a gamble as he hasn`t even established himself at SJ,
