I tell you, It`s A Miracle how we`re being linked with these type of players now.

I guess Time will tell.

I do think we need another recognised striker but I also think the problem was exaggerated last year by the lack of chances created and the absence of regular goals from midfield. I think both these issues have been addressed this season which may take some pressure off the strikers. If you`re creating chances and scoring goals it doesn`t really matter who`s converting them.

I`m suspicious of Boyan Georgiov - by his own admission he`s a man without conviction, who doesn`t know - fat lot o` use for a striker!

Another one bites the dust -

Sam Cosgrove has joined A-League Premiership winners Auckland FC. The former Aberdeen striker has made the move to the successful New Zealand outfit. The 28-year-old had three successful years at Pittodrie under Derek McInnes before he was sold to Birmingham City in 2021 and then he joined Barnsley two years later.

2 games in and we’ve scored 2 goals with one being a 1 a season type worldy from a defender and we’ve addressed the issues? Very premature!

Not convinced, we have a solid midfield now for sure but there ain’t a lot of goals in it. Not sure where Jefferson will play but cooper is not going to be consistently good enough at this level this season to create enough. Easton would have solved the problem so in my eyes we haven’t solved it yet until we have that type of quality player and of course a striker.

The problem is how much we’re relying on a striker that simply can’t be relied upon. Yes, the quality of the squad has improved and maybe creating more chances will bring more goals, but the fact remains we can’t depend on Kane. It’s no secret we’re a different side with him in the team, and when he’s missing we look toothless. I posted previously the stats and how much we struggle when kane is absent. This hasn’t really been addressed this window.

Andrew Tod has chipped in, but I can’t see his goals lasting all season. He looks a really promising player but he’s still a bit away from being an established scorer at this level. If we’re serious about pushing for the playoffs, we need someone who can lead the line, play the majority of games, and actually be a consistent threat.

The issue is that every club (even Celtic in their own market) is on the hunt for the same thing, a striker who can last the distance and score goals.

If rumours are to be believed we are going to add another CH and a striker soon.

Don’t think there will be any more, so no ā€œEaston typeā€ being signed in this window. Maybe Lennon thinks we have someone on our books already who could fill that role ?

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I did say I thought we needed another striker. Maybe you missed that bit. And we`ve played 6 games, not 2, as Berkey seems to think, one against a Premiership team when we scored. I love it when folk dismiss `worldies` as if the potential to score them was some sort of handicap.

It`s pretty obvious we`re moving the ball quicker and offering a bigger goal threat from other areas of the field. MacLeod`s hardly had a chance to show what he can do either.

Personally I never thought Dylan Easton was an option from a rival club, and not upset that he didn`t make the move.

Strikers are hard to come by and getting a proven goalscorer in the door will be very tough. They are in short supply and we will be way down the pecking order.

It`s unfortunate that Chris Kane is injury prone but that means other players will need to chip in goals. Unless they are exceptional I am not too sure there are many consistent goalscorers out there in our price range.

Knowing absolutely nothing about him, other than the video we’ve all seen….but I would have thought that Caceres was an ā€œEaston typeā€ signing. If the rumours were true about Easton…and we had got him, would we have signed Caceres?

I`m not saying anything new, just my take on where we are with recruitment.

I`ll be very surprised if we don`t sign a striker before this window closes on first of September. I`d also be surprised if it hasn`t been at the top of our manager`s list all along. We`ve got 12 and a bit days to find out.

If we don`t get one then I`d imagine we`re saving the money earmarked for a striker till we can get one who meets our stringent criteria. I get that feeling from what others have posted about NL as manager at Hibs. I don`t think he`s one to blow the budget just for the sake of ticking a `got another striker` box.

You know, actually your right wee eck, we blew away a couple of league 2 teams so actually we have solved the goalscoring problems from last season totally…. The league is what I’m interested in and it’s our bread and butter and very easy to measure how improved we are.

If we go into this season relying on cooper and Andrew Tod that’s a problem for me. If Jefferson comes in for cooper hopefully that’s an upgrade and Kane will obv come in tod but we need another striker, ideally one who competes in the air as well have plenty width in our team.

Apparently Lucas Fyfe grabbed a great goal and put in a great performance against Celtic. Snodgrass was full of praise on his socials, which isn’t a surprise given he’s part of the agency Fyfe has signed with.

Congratulations also to forward Lucas Fyfe who has also been named in the Scotland U17s squad for their upcoming training camp šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ

The two-day training camp in Largs will give U17 Head Coach Brian McLaughlin the chance to work with the group of players ahead of EURO Under 17 matches in October.

Brilliant Lucas šŸ‘

I could see some interest in Lucas Fyfe soon. The big English clubs are easily able to take a chance and sign youngsters for 6 figures even when they are on the fringes of first teams
