He`s not the most prolific but he`s quite good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play - and a decent target man.

Basically a worse version of Kane. I’m not one to come on here and be really negative but this one is really disappointing. Feels like we have missed out on a host of other targets and this is what’s left.

I heard directly from an agent we have perhaps been aiming a bit high, on the one hand, can`t knock being ambitious, on the other hand frustrating not getting one over the line.
Rudden signing would be ok i guess.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Ross Jack / John Watson were hardly prolific before they arrived. The rest is history.

Not sure why Livi would sign Rudden this summer to then let him leave on loan?

Hope we aren`t after him, he`s a donkey and worse than McCann who was deemed not good enough.

Fits the experienced pro mould. Better than what we have out with Kane. Yes it`s not exciting but it`s what we need

Tete Yengi hasn’t played much at all this season either and may be more likely.

Big lump of a lad who can be a handful for defenders.

That doesn’t fit with what Pompey posted though.

Yengi just extended his contract with Livi I think so I`d be surprised if he was leaving, even on a loan. Maybe that`s why Rudden has itchy feet...

Rudden is better than what we have as a secondary striker. 9 goals last year in a struggling Queens side isn’t too bad, was enough to land him a prem move, albeit not for long. Might be able to bring Young into play with his hold up when Kane isn’t available.

Pars want Rudden

Dunfermline Athletic have made a move to land Zak Rudden.

Neil Lennon wants to sign the Livingston striker.

The 25-year-old only moved to Livi in the summer but the Pars are pushing to make the deal happen.

Rudden hasn’t been a regular starter for the Lions and Lennon is prepared to offer him regular first-team action.

It would mean dropping down to the Championship but he has plenty of experience at that level via his spells with Partick Thistle and Queen’s Park.

The former Rangers and Dundee forward has also had a previous loan spell in Fife with rivals Raith Rovers.

Lennon has been keen to add to his front-line options and Dunfermline fell short in a bid for St Johnstone’s Makenzie Kirk.

I`m absolutely fine with Rudden, he works his socks off and will do fine as another option up front. Not an improvement on Kane, but has plenty of experience at this level and is better than our other options.

With less than a week til the window closes and If Rudden is the best we can get after months of searching, then that`s nothing short of a failure. Same with Munn on loan from Rangers.

James McPake was interested in signing him previously. He was highly rated

I’m happy with this. We’ve lacked a striker who is dominant in the air for a couple of seasons. Gives us a long ball option that has been badly lacking.

He`s 6,2 but he not a target man type player. Don`t expect him playing with his back to goal and winning headers. Decent goal scoring record though.

I`ll reserve judgement on this if he signed and when he plays.

I don’t want to sound overly negative, but am I happy about this? No. It feels like a panic loan because we couldn’t secure a striker, and this seems to be the best option available. Sadly, as Raith have pointed out, we’re still regarded as a bottom-half Championship side.

Putting the disappointment and my personal dislike of him as a player to one side, there are positives: he’s got over 100 Championship appearances, so he knows the league, and he scored nine goals for Queen’s Park last season. Plus, having two bald strikers up front will at least provide some amusement.

I’m not optimistic, but I’ll judge him on what he delivers for us. Do I think he’ll be a success? Honestly, no and, frustratingly, I’m usually right about these things.

"If Rudden is the best we can get after months of searching, then that`s nothing short of a failure"

or its called reality of where the club is just now.

He was very isolated when we played QP last season, did well in the circumstances. I recall him turning Fogarty inside out before McPake took him off at HT.
Not quite the glamour signing but a genuine centre forward who’ll play the role properly.

Initially the name didn’t fill me with confidence but thinking about it, he knows the league, he is a striker and knows where the goal is. He has the instinct and possibly may work alongside Kane or Young.

If he is announced let’s see what he can do.
