Anyone who thought we were going to be able to sign an injury-free equivalent of Kane was dreaming. Any such player will be playing at a higher level than the Scottish Championship and why would he want to drop down?

Bertie Paton, Wed 27 Aug 17:47

He wasn`t at Livi last season. He was at Queens Park and scored 9 goals.

He signed for Livi in the summer

I stand corrected šŸ‘šŸ»

He`s not the most prolific but he`s quite good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play - and a decent target man.

Genuinely the exact opposite of what other fans have been saying elsewhere.

I think it went something like ā€œhold up isn’t in his vocabularyā€ and then something about a trampoline touch šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Not every decent quality striker will be playing at a higher level. Even if they are, they might still fancy a move to get more regular matches.

James McPake was interested in signing him previously. He was highly rated

I’d imagine there’s a few rangers players going free soon šŸ˜‚

But I thought the new owners were signing Ollie Palmer, Jason Cummings, Simon Murray, James Forrest, Martin Boyle, ordan Rhodes…..and we end up with Rudden? Shows how far off the mark this forum actually is

Hmm unsure about this one, not the worst signing we could make but if it’s all that’s left it’s another body in and you live in hope another might come in to enable young to go out on loan.

If we’re signing him I assume it’s on loan or are livi happy to let him go already? I severely hope we are not paying a decent fee for him?

Last time I looked Livingston are in the Premier League and are at a higher level unless I’m dreaming.

We can`t have folk having different opinions on a football forum, eh? If the rumours are true Neil Lennon must think he has qualities he can utilise and that`s all that matters really.

Doesn`t catch the imagination for me but thought he was a handful when he broke through with Falkirk. Will see how it transpires but rudden plus one more wouldn`t be the worst of situations for where we are.

Maybe so, but I don`t think anyone reckons Rudden is an injury-free equivalent of Kane. He might be the best compromise in the circumstances though.

From that list, the only name I genuinely heard we were in talks with was Ollie Palmer. While discussions were ongoing, he came off the bench for Wrexham against Hull and bagged two goals, then everything went quiet on his end. The rest felt like background noise, especially the Stuart Armstrong rumours.

Interestingly, The Courier is now reporting that Rudden is set to sign permanently, which seems odd given he only joined Livingston a month ago. It does suggest the club isn’t keen on short-term loans. They’re also reporting that Lennon is still actively looking to bring in a second striker before the window closes.

There were rumours circulating a few months back of signing a Bulgarian striker. Has this officially died a death šŸ¤”

Interesting that Palmer hasn’t played a single minute or even been on the bench since scoring those two goals.

What I`ve read from other fans in the past about Rudden is that because of his size, managers (or teammates) believe they can launch the ball up to him, then use him to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Unfortunately he`s really poor at that.

Kdypar, when I first heard about Ollie Palmer, I kept tabs on him hoping we’d make a move. He wasn’t getting any game time, so it felt like something could happen, but then communication from his side just went quiet. Now with Rudden coming in, there are reports on Twitter suggesting we’re still in the market for another striker before the window shuts.

The Raith fans I know describe him as very lazy and just not a very good footballer. Watch him score 20 this season for us.

circumstances change, at a guess they signed Rudden to either replace or as cover for Yengi who they had been trying to sell all summer, that doesnt happen and he ends up signing a new contract so Rudden is almost not required by them now.

Lennon said weeks ago about wanting two strikers, see if he says he still wants another if Rudden is coming.
