Jeffery, Wed 27 Aug 21:54

What I`ve read from other fans in the past about Rudden is that because of his size, managers (or teammates) believe they can launch the ball up to him, then use him to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Unfortunately he`s really poor at that.

Remind you of anyone? šŸ˜‰

I`m still pretty sure a foreign striker will come in.

`Last time I looked Livingston are in the Premier League and are at a higher level unless I’m dreaming.`

Maybe so, but I don`t think anyone reckons Rudden is an injury-free equivalent of Kane. He might be the best compromise in the circumstances though.

He`s definitely more reliable than kane. 35 league appearances last season and 4 league Cup games this season. Kane failed to hit either stat. He only scored 2 goals less than kane in the league and the same tally in the league cup. So not a million miles away on the stat sheets.

Rudden might not give fans movement in their underwear but Gilmour wasn`t either and he`s been the best bit of business we have done in a long time.

But I thought the new owners were signing Ollie Palmer, Jason Cummings, Simon Murray, James Forrest, Martin Boyle, ordan Rhodes…..and we end up with Rudden? Shows how far off the mark this forum actually is

He`s not the most prolific but he`s quite good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play - and a decent target man.

Genuinely the exact opposite of what other fans have been saying elsewhere.

I think it went something like ā€œhold up isn’t in his vocabularyā€ and then something about a trampoline touch šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

We can`t have folk having different opinions on a football forum, eh? If the rumours are true Neil Lennon must think he has qualities he can utilise and that`s all that matters really.

I thought Rudden would the ball up as well until I was told it wasn’t in his game.

I didn’t take it as a personal attack tho šŸ‘šŸ»

If the choice before the window shuts is either no additional strikers added to the squad or getting Rudden in, then let`s welcome Zak aboard!

It`s not that the club haven`t been trying. Frustrating for everyone.

I remember the fuss when we signed Andy Smith. All forgotten as soon as he starts hitting the net.

That’s ultimately it, isn’t it? If we’re winning games and he’s scoring goals, who can complain?

Exactly - plus the reaction (myself included) when we signed Brewster.

Both went on to become club legends.

If nothing else, it`s another body in the door and his experience could help the younger lads progress.

Signings at our level will always be a hit or a miss so if / when he signs he should be welcomed.

My concern is what others have said if he`s not a target man then is he not going to just end up in the same situation as Young?

Folk are already writing Young off, not because he is missing chances, but because he doesn`t hold the ball up or bring others into the game, is that going to be the same with Rudden.

Ollie Palmer away to Swindon. Another rumour from this site that can go in the bin.

Yeah but his goal scoring prowess wasn’t ever in question.
Fans hated him purely down to his cheating to gain penalties etc.
I quickly forgave him though. šŸ˜‰

As posted above, based on last season’s stats, he would be our second highest goalscorer, playing six more games than kane while only being two behind his total.

We need someone reliable, and he ticks that box playing 34 league games last season. Since we like to play more direct, having someone with height is an advantage. What separates him from Young is that he’s already a proven goalscorer at this level, and that’s exactly what we needed.

It looks like a decent signing on paper, but nothing is ever won on paper. Let’s see how he gets on and judge him from the. Performances put in while wearing a pars shirt. Welcome Zak and all the best.

Talk if him signing for Wrexham but....

...he is with the same agency as Jefferson Caceres.

Will be difficult at this stage for a club at our level. I know he isn’t a fan of loans but we will have a month to maybe get some in. Premier league teams will be in position to know who they want rid of over next few days.
