We could do with a left winger if we want to play 4-4-2 at any point, Matty Todd was filling in there at the end of last season, against Partick etc, Morrison played right wing and looked much better there
Not sure it`s worth getting him if it`s not our main formation though.

Lennon mentioned a winger coming in did he not? He’d be a great signing. Seen Max Anderson rumoured also, alongside Donnelly. If we brought in those 3, that would be a real statement of intent from the club.

I`m surprised Anderson didn`t make a go of it down south. He was training with SJ I think but they didn`t offer him a deal.

"Lennon mentioned a winger coming in did he not?"

he said a wide player which was the same as last season and Kearney came in, id presume he is meaning the same this time ie wing back.

Dundee boss Steven Pressley is trying to bring in a central defender before the Premiership opener with Celtic - to allow Aaron Donnelly to go out on-loan to Dunfermline Athletic.
The Pars want to take the Northern Irish international to East End Park for the season.

A deal has been agreed between the two clubs but it is subject to Dundee being able to bring in another centre back.

He would be a great signing. Contract is up next summer as well.

Sounds like a good move for both parties.

Does this suggest we are more or less committed to playing with 3 CBs? Otherwise it will be difficult keeping everybody happy as we would have 6 available if all are fit.

Are the wing backs playing higher this season or is that simply down to who we are playing.
There`s no doubt our performances improved last season when we switched from 3 x CB`s to 2. Lots of games where we looked a different team when that happened.

I think NL is building a squad to go for automatic promotion. No doubt there will be injuries over the season, but will also want competition for places?

There does not appear to be any useable data published by clubs in Scotland on injuries generally, but estimates are 10% of game time lost by plàyers is good, average is 10-14%, high is over 20%. 62% occur during games, 35% in training and 2% other.

It obviously can vary widely player by player, but a useful metric to record, monitor and publish in some capacity I would have thought.

I think having the flexibility to play either 2 or 3 at the back is important. Kearney and Fraser are much better as wing backs than full backs imo and J Tod + SCH have looked more comfortable as a 3 so far albeit after only 4 games.

That could all change but we`ll also have several more players leaving on loan you`d imagine, such as Davidson, Rowe, McLeod & wherever Young is as well.

Lennon will be keen to avoid the scenario at the end of last season where especially in attack we were short-handed and that had an impact on our playoff run too. Interesting to see what the squad looks like by the end of the window

Lennon saying that he hopes for 3 or 4 to come in. Looks like one of those will be Donnolly.

He has said we need a striker and a midfielder and you’d assure the 4th will be competition for Kearney as he said McLeod will be going out on loan.

Will be the best squad we’ve had in years.

He said in a courier interview that he was still after a midfielder, wide player and striker after Oxborough had signed.

Presumably he was excluding the Aaron Donnelly deal if that`s already agreed and just waiting for Dundee to bring someone in to make way for his departure.

So think that would leave 3 more players to come in if that deal goes ahead smoothly.

I’d really like to see a proper winger come in. Someone who isn’t afraid to take a man on with a bit of pace. It feels sometimes our play can be a bit rigid. Not necessarily as a starter but as an option.

I personally think all things considered we already have a stronger squad than this time last season. With JCM and KN away and the guys who have come in and will come in, I think that we will be more resilient, creative and difficult to beat. The younger players have a season under their belt, and you can already see the improvement at this early stage. I think Callum Morrison will come on to his game and score goals. Similarly Zack Rudden isnt far away and Chris Kane is probably the most natural goal scorer in the championship. Add Andy Tod, Olly Shaw, Keith Bray and Rory McLeod to the mix and potebtially goals from set pieces and corners from the central defence. We have a group of players with goals in them from all areas of the park

Is Taylor still with Montrose?
Would be good to see them team up again.
