SJ have signed Joel Cotterill, a midfielder, from Swansea on a one-year contract. He was on loan at Dundee last season.

SJ are also reckoned to be taking Josh Campbell on loan from Hibs.

Hibs are rumoured to be interested in Danny Ings who is a free agent after being released by Sheff Utd.

That`s the window closed now, right?

What is it open for?

Free agents, and loans between scottish clubs? Sorry, I`m not au fait with the rules at all?

I noticed Riyad Mahrez is a free agent. I`d take him. Paul Pogba too.

Aye, spot on. Now only free agents and loans within Scotland for the Championship and below. Loan window closes end of September.

It may be tomorrow before we hear clubs have mutually agreed with certain players that their contracts can be ended and the players are free to move on.

A couple of last-minute deals confirmed -

Hibs beat the deadline to land Wales U21 international Alex Williams on loan from West Brom. The full back becomes David Gray’s ninth summer signing - with the Easter Road club also waiting for an answer from former England striker Danny Ings over a move to Leith.

Motherwell kid Olly Whyte has penned a loan deal with Ayr United. The 19-year-old moves to the Championship after impressing at Stenhousemuir last term.

For an undisclosed fee as well. Shame it never worked out for him here. All the best to the lad.

That’ll free up a striker space perhaps. Maybe another to leave too? Rudden I reckon.

It`s a shame he didn`t get much of a run here.

I would guess the transfer fee is probably really minimal but includes a sell on clause to give us something in the event he finds top form and attracts attention.

He should have a good mentor in Nicky Clark. Good luck to the lad.

I`m saddened by this. He didn`t really get much of a chance to prove himself here, for whatever reason. Good luck Connor and show us what we missed.

Always got the impression that he had an attitude issue. Never looked happy.

A race with other clubs for his signature apparently. Good luck to him

Convinced that we will regret this and he will shine and go on to better and bigger things.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Never showed anything during his time here. Too big a jump for him.

I`m not convinced at all. Just now, League 1/2 is his level.

If he improves then absolutely fair play to the lad, but right decision now.

Called it when we signed him that he’d struggle to make the step up so I’m not at all shocked that he’s been sold

Not too late for him if he knuckles down.

Shankland left Aberdeen at the same age and pitched up in league one at Ayr.

Nisbet had an outstanding season in league one with Raith at a similar age.

If he proves himself he`ll get a move back up. I do think though that QOTS might not be the best place to do it.

The Courier is saying we were actively pursuing an additional attacking player right up to the transfer deadline and this is likely to continue, which suggests the target is either a loanee or a free agent.
