| 661. Author: desparado Date: Mon 24th Aug 2026. 12:10 Not sure we need too many more in to make 433 work. We have plenty defenders. Enough CM and enough strikers. Wingers/Width. Morrison/Bray right side. It’s left side where we are short. It’s certainly not Andrew Tods best position so imo we need a pacey left sided midfielder winger. That would be 28, so a few, maybe four would go out on loan. Both McLeods and probably Young and an other. I believe Young is still injured ? Not heard anything. Call me old fashioned but I always liked a “ Little and Large “ combo up front. I would like to see what he could do in a 433 playing along side Kane/Rudden or Shaw but don’t think it will happen as he does not seem to be flavour of the month. Author: GJS93 Date: Mon 24th Aug 2026. 17:12 probably 1 defender too many, 1 creative central midfielder short and none of the strikers can play as a lone striker plus if going to 1 then you dont need at least 5 in the squad. Bray isnt a wide player, Morrison isnt good enough, in that system Tod and Cooper dont fit in so you need at least 1 other option on the left. ideally you could cover every option/role in any system but it doesnt work like that, right now this squad is way off it in any system though. I think Rudden was signed as cover for Kane at the start of last season given his injury history so it`s not surprising they are similar. I can`t say I agree that Shaw and Tod are similar to them or to each other. Reply |

They have deliberately brought in younger legs in midfield (avg 29) and attack (avg 26). An ageing centre of defence becomes vulnerable if Raith are required to defend large spaces, play a high line or repeatedly deal with quick transitions. Recovery between Saturday–Tuesday–Saturday fixtures is another issue. The effect tends not to be dramatic in August; it becomes more noticeable through December–March, when accumulated minutes, knocks and poorer pitches start affecting availability and mobility. Their summer recruitment does appear to recognise this. Raith released a substantial amount of experienced personnel — Ross Matthews, Jack Hamilton, Josh Mullin and Shaun Byrne among them — and have introduced younger players alongside the established core. I think they could finish anywhere from 4th to 6th. In comparison to the Pars, the key difference is that Dunfermline`s summer rebuild has produced a much younger, more athletic squad, whereas Raith have retained an experienced spine while trying to put younger legs around it. Early mid-season Raoth will be strong but Feb to April may struggle with the age of the squad. I expect us to start slowly and build into a stronger team as the season progresses. We have a higher ceiling in that respect so if we can turn more of the good performances into wins we could finish anwhere between 1st and 4th. Its between the Pars, Livingston, Partick and Raith this season in my view. G Wardrope Reply |

Rovers are set to give the centre half a two-year deal. They have agreed a package with St Johnstone to sign their defender. Boss Dougie Imrie is hoping the paperwork will be completed to allow Baird to make his debut at Dunfermline Athletic tonight. Imrie previously worked with him at Morton. He has been keen to land him all summer. Baird helped St Johnstone to last season’s Championship title. Reply |

Things seem very different now as they appear to be doing a lot of transfer business. I hope he doesn`t cause a `boy who cried wolf` situation. You could see a situation where fans at some point don`t believe in a genuine poverty claim. Reply |
