Isn`t a bit of a myth to say we were `slow off the mark` with signings last season? My recollection is that we signed Kane, Wotherspoon and Ngwenya pretty early in the window. The problem then was that the German owners froze the manager`s budget and the fans didn`t really know this until they agreed to loosen the purse strings after deciding they wanted to sell their shares.

I think the biggest issue is the lack of any real quality in the squad. We’re going to have to get our act together if we are to assemble a decent enough squad to have a successful season. It’s all feeling a bit too familiar.

``Deary me. There is some amount of ***** posted on here but that is right up there with the best of it. Give yourself a shake ffs.``

It`s fact. What`s wrong with it you drama queen. You unable to engage in adult coversation? Just irrational hyperbole.

I’m assuming you’re not going to humour us with how you actually arrived at that absolute clanger of a take?

If this is somehow supposed to be “fact,” then by all means enlighten us. Show your working. Any sort of context of how we have missed out on our "plan A" give us something. Otherwise, don’t be surprised when you get laughed off like a bloke saying Harry Maguire should be starting for Real Madrid.

22 May - Chris Kane
27 June - Kieran Ngwenya
3 July - David Wotherspoon
19 July - Kai McLean
22 August - Tobi Oluwayemi
23 August - Josh Cooper
25 August - Tommy Fogarty

This is a decent resource to check Click here

For example, Dundee utd signed 13 players last summer, but only 2 before 17th June.

Lennon had spoken to and expected his targeted signings in the next few days. 14 days later nothing.

Now two weeks later we are now looking around domestic and international markets according to Cook. No identified targets expected within days like two weeks ago.

Maybe N.L.Was confident making the statement at the time but the players changed their mind at the last minute. We cant hold a gun against these players .I am sure N.L.Has the experience to bring in quality players we need .He and his backroom staff also have their reputation

Lennon said he “expected” signings in the next few days, not that they were already in the building and to be fair we did make a new signing yesterday.

Anyone who`s followed a transfer window knows how quickly things can change. Agents drag things out, other clubs get involved, players have second thoughts or want to wait for a better offer, it`s not a pc game we are in here.

Cook saying we’re looking at both domestic and international markets doesn’t change anything either, that’s what we should be doing. Doesn’t mean we’ve binned off our targets, just that we’re casting the net a bit wider, which is smart if deals are stalling.

I get the frustration, everyone wants new faces in early. But it’s better to wait and get the right player than panic and end up with another 6-month wage sink who’s not up to scratch. We’ve rushed into enough duds in the past, haven’t we?

Let’s see where we are come pre-season proper. If we’re still short then it`s fair enough ask questions regarding recruitment. But two weeks of quiet doesn’t mean the plan collapsed. We don`t know who the club are looking at or have been looking at unless you have that information of course?

3 signings when your squad needs overhauled was never going to cut it when the manager had been quoted as saying it was a “big summer”.
Under McPake far too much influence was placed on loans who as well as being a gamble got started late and the team were playing catch up until they gelled which you could argue never actually happened. We had one goalie for the cup campaign, incredibly amateurish. I thought we were sure to avoid similar this time round, but there’s plenty areas where we are left with the same personnel as per the last two seasons.

Are we forgetting we`ve been absolutely pie for a good while?
Maybe not the draw we`re thinking we are?

That is a concern Dandy, if players want to play in the highest league in the country, they may not fancy us as a good bet for promotion after absolutely dismal last few seasons we have had. We haven’t looked like a team anywhere near getting to the SPL since the horrible moment that Peter Grant walked in the door.

This is where signings can snowball tho, you bring in a couple of players with real quality and then others start to fancy coming here a bit more because they believe we have a good shot at getting up. We haven’t had that yet but I’m hopeful it is coming. We need 7 or 8 quality players to come in and start if we are to compete at the top.

I think so far we are all a little underwhelmed about the lack of quality signings. Other than fan gossip there has been very little about who we have actually had as targets and so very hard to say if e have missed out on them or if discussions are ongoing.

As an example it has been posted that we made an offer for Dylan Easton of £80k which was rejected. I have no idea the truth in this. But if true, it doesn’t mean we won’t go back with a better offer. Likewise some of the players we have targeted may be waiting to see if there are any other better offers or they may have turned down our initial offers and are waiting to see if we will offer better terms.

That does not equate to being able to say as ‘fact’ we have missed out on all these targets and are now on to plan B targets.

Also totally ignores the fluidity of the transfer window, where a club higher up make a they have new signing which in itself releases a current player they have as a possible signing.

Anyone who makes a statement and tries to justify their opinion as being a ‘fact’ needs a block filter applied.

I do wonder if there`s been a complication with gamdom becoming the club sponsor, as DC said in the recent update they are still finalising sponsorship and kit etc.

I understand there`s been a few clubs down south impacted by league rules and gambling sponsorships recently and I wondered at the time if this would affect us. That would explain the delay and also srj being on the new training kit. How would this affect the managers budget?

This is purely me asking the question and I might be adding 2+2 and getting 5 here but it doesn`t yet feel like the big summer promised or the new owner bounce we felt in January (potentially for good reason signing wise)

I think that with NL`s reputation we are going to attract a certain type of player. Coupled with the fact that we don`t want too many loans but permanent signings, it probably leaves you with a small percentage of an available pool.

I feel confident that the end of June we will see some players coming in. For me it`s quality over quantity.

Rovers sign Dick Chin. Looks exactly what we need. Judging from the short reel on the rovers page though..

At the moment this pre season is a repeat of the previous couple pre seasons some big chat from Lennon and Cook but not much actually happening.

You would think going to Bulgaria we would have at least 4 or 5 new signings get them integrated with the current squad build team morale etc but if feels like are aren`t close to that.

But we shall see it`s still early.

No one can say the Witherspoon deal was done early, in my view it was at least a year too late and that was reflect in the precious little he put up last season.

Paradice might be on to something, we’ve undoubtly missed out on a couple of players we were after, maybe there’s an issue with the fandom/sponsorship money coming through which means we haven’t added anyone.

We’ll need a few in before the trip to Bulgaria, otherwise it’s an expensive excercise sending the reserves out there!
