Saying that you don`t want something is easy. There are folk on here who love to do that.

Putting your cock on the block and naming players who could do a job for us is much trickier.

"And for those questioning the signing, who exactly do you think we’re getting that’s better? There isn`t a queue of 20 goal strikers just waiting to drop down to this level. When Kane’s going to miss spells, we need someone who can step up, and Moult’s got the pedigree."

Moult`s predigree and recent success at this level makes him a logical signing. Its not comparing apples with apples as the supply lines in that Utd team with Sibbald/Middleton/Fotheringham even Mochrie created many of the oppertunities he put away and partnership with Watt etc.

his signing alone won`t be a silver bullet but a significant piece in the jigsaw

"Perhaps the interest in Moult means Fletcher has better offers ?"

or there was nothing in the Fletcher rumour in the first place.

If we were able to obtain Moult, us fans should be snapping the opportunity up.

There seems to be this feeling of entitlement that we deserve better - the guys a proven goalscorer at this level.

As DA put it, easy to say no to things on here but little by way of providing alternatives.

It would be interesting to see how it would work in terms of game time with the existing Connor Young, Kane and Sutherland alongside a Moult/Easton/Fletcher or whoever comes in.

2 years later we will not be signing the same moult who did so well again for a largely dominant United team in this league.

Would be a decent option in terms of adding experience and if (massive if) we can keep both him and Kane fit the only problem is who will supply them with the chances.

Morton are set to sign Sonny Hart from Swindon Town. ‘Ton boss Dougie Imrie is about to land the defender on loan for the season. Imrie has persuaded Hart to turn his back on several English league options to move to Cappielow.

The 18-year-old centre half had previously been on the radar of Livingston. Hart is highly-rated at Swindon and has already made his first-team debut. He already has a wealth of first-team action via loans with Harrow Borough, Gloucester, Canvey Island and Farnborough.

Barry Nicholson has joined Dundee as Steven Pressley`s assistant. He worked with him at Fleetwood and more recently was Callum Davidson`s assistant at QP.

Noticed the PFA down south are having one of those open trial showcase games for released players like the SPFA do at Broadwood every year.

Couple of names in there; Dylan McGeouch who has the ex Celtic link but more so Sam Cosgrove who i was really surprised to see isn`t signed up with anyone. Big powerful striker who was good for Aberdeen a few years back before moving back to England.

Was really surprised to see Cosgrove on that list as well. Although hems maybe not lit up the English lower leagues, I thought he would have had enough credibility in the bank up here.

Not sure if we’d be interested, but if it was to happen then I’d be chuffed with him joining.

No doubt the 2 year deal gives him stability at his age. We need experience but probably players around 25-28 years.

I also saw the teams from that and was surprised Cosgrove didn`t have anything set up. Can only assume he wants to stay down there, and is maybe looking for decent wages, as you could see a number of Scottish clubs fancying him.

Kane Hemmings in that lineup was the one that gave me horrible flashbacks. It seems like some kind of ridiculous fever dream imagining going into a playoff against `lowly` Cowdenbeath and them pitching up with the brilliant Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings up front.

Not that I think we ever were in for him I don`t think but I reckon Watt is a bullet dodged. Far too lumbered and not quick enough, was never impressed with him at Utd.

I think Partick will really struggle this season.

Whether we were interested or not in Watt I’m glad he never came to us.

He’s a downgrade on Brian Graham and like other have said I agree that Thistle will struggle this season purely down to lack of goals. I think I’m correct in saying Graham has been the leagues top scorer for the past 2 seasons?

After Celtic he has pretty much lasted one season at every club and then been moved on the following year whether it be permanent or on loan.

Easy to brand him a bad apple, big ego, lazy, disruptive influence and all the rest of it but there has to he something behind that especially with all the talent he undoubtedly had.
