The only worry for me now is the time the new signings will get with the current squad to gel. 3 weeks till first competitive game, could make us look disjointed if we don’t get the names we want in the door.

Last years League Cup was a disaster, lets hope this years takes a better route, which needs some better names in the door IMO.

Stephen Kelly would be a great signing for us. If we want to compete at the top of the championship we need to start making signings of that calibre.

Believe a move to America is close.

C'mon Ye Pars!

That`s kind of the way I see it Gaz. Ross County spurt all their Dosh on aging players, and St Johnstone sign a bunch of average Championship players. Then they have to sit back and watch the Pars sign 8 high quality players, and realise that the signings they have made won`t be good enough, and they have blown their budget on them.

I reckon we will already have signings made, just ready for the kit launch, sponsorship deal, big reveal

Last year’s League Cup was a bit of a disaster, no getting away from that. That said, every year you see clubs using the League Cup group stage as a kind of competitive pre-season. They’ll never come out and say it outright, but the proof is in the pudding across Scottish football.

We always hear managers bemoaning the fact they can’t use trialists in the competition, because they’re still figuring out their squads, tweaking systems, and fine-tuning phases of play.

Of course, we want to get through the groups and avoid the embarrassment of last season. But at the same time, we also need to use the competition to be fully ready for when the real stuff kicks off in August, that’s when it really matters. Until then, I see it as a bit of a free hit.

That’s why I’m not worried about the lack of signings just yet, it’s still early days.

I’m not really that bothered about the league cup, or whatever they call the challenge cup these days. Beyond the financials of telly rights, prize money or big away ties netting us a few quid. I’d rather win the championship. I hope we go back to treating the challenge cup as a reserve team competition the way we used to.

Scottish cup is different, that holds a lot of prestige and gets you into Europe. If you offered me winning the Scottish cup or the championship I’d take the Scottish cup.

Pretty much sums it up. All I hope for is a big payday from the league cup. Scottish cup I want the easiest draw possible everytime.

Think we need to calm the expectations a bit when it comes to winning the league. Lennon’s already said top 4 is the goal and building from there, sounds about right to me. Can’t see us getting near the title with Ross County still in the mix, they’ll be a different level financially.

That said, I still think there’s better talent out there than what some of these Championship clubs have already picked up. Honestly don’t rate Livingston’s window so far either. I`ve not seen anything that worries me.

I do think we’ll end up making some decent signings, but it won’t be early doors. Like it or not, players and agents are going to hang about for better offers, whether from us or elsewhere. Yeah we’ve got more cash than under the last lot, but I don’t see us throwing silly money around just to say we’ve signed someone. No point signing bodies for the sake of it if they’re not upgrades on what we have already.

David cook, James Bord and I think also Lenny said last season getting to the top level as soon as possible was our priority. As soon as possible would be this coming season. A lot of people have bought season tickets and placed bets on us to win the league with that expectation.

Do you think Ross County coming down has downgraded/delayed the clubs ambitions Cammy? I’m not saying you are wrong, it is entirely possible. Maybe that is why we haven’t made the big splash in the transfer window.

Why are some on here commenting on Livingston`s signings? They aren`t even in the same league as us.

Don’t think it’s knocked our ambition but their chairman is relentless, no chance he just lets them drift. We’ve seen it before, they go down and throw everything at coming straight back up. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re going to bring a few big names in to get back up.

That said, the market`s where it`ll be won or lost. If we can be clever and outmanoeuvre our rivals there is no reason for missing out on top 4. Mullen staying on is brilliant business, exactly the sort of deal we needed. A couple more of that ilk , solid younger players with a bit of bite, and we’re right in the mix.

Just being honest though, I do think County will probably strengthen more and might just have too much over the course of a season. They`ve done this before. But football’s a funny old game, and if it doesn’t go their way I’ll be absolutely buzzing to be proven wrong.

Still, a decent summer window and a fast start, and anything can happen.

My point about Livi having a poor window isn’t just about them specifically, it was more that nobody has really pulled off anything that impressive yet. Feels like a really slow start across the board. If anything, us getting Mullen tied down might actually be the standout bit of business so far, which says a lot.

Still loads of time left, and you`d think the better quality players are still floating about, clubs just waiting to move pieces around before things really kick off. Wouldn`t surprise me if a lot of teams are holding fire until later in the window when wage demands start to come down and players want to secure their deals.

Just hope we’re ready to pounce when that happens. There will be value out there, just need to be smart and not reactive like we’ve been in past windows.

To be fair, there’s probably no bigger names in the Championship, so far next season, than Gallagher and GMS……unless Wanyama re-signs obviously.

Ross County have a really strong squad now. Lyall was one that I personally wanted us to try and go for. Cracking young player with loads of technical ability and potential.
