Apart from the bickering that’s goes on here and the top trumps Willy wanging stuff …. Which frankly destroys good conversation, I do wonder …
How people seem to know so much about Scottish players when if you watch the pars on a Saturday, how you get to know that a Morton ( example club) player is x or y or z …. Unless you spend shed loads of money on watching catch ups from a PPV on a VPN and have 4 hours spare every day … you know next to nothing about opposition players.
Nuts and a waste of a post. Every time.

BBC Friday games as well as watching players play against Pars. You can spot a good player from watching them 4-5 times.

Your pathetic tantrum is a bit strange.

Coventry,

We play them 4 times a year, bbc Friday night games, plus all clubs release highlights every week after their matches. Between that lot you can get a decent idea.

Fair play 10 yds. Reasoned response. Too many folk seem to think that they liked a player - actually that they really have a good grasp of a player - when they saw them once have a good game against us.
If I watched Matty Todd on his game and saw some stats and looked at some clips I would think he deserves a step up to a lower level premier or English championship.

BBC Sport have a list of Championship `ins and outs` on their Scottish football website. I don`t think it`s totally accurate but it gives a good indication of transfer activity. Morton have signed nobody and Partick only one. If you take `loans ended` into account some clubs have shed an awful lot of players (including us of course!).

There`s a similar list for Premiership teams and there are still a few `names` available e,g, Louis Moult and Tony Watt from Dundee United and Scott Fraser from Dundee.

Early signings isn`t necessarily a positive thing. The only summer that I can remember us getting signings in early was before the 2014-15 season when we signed Moffat, Andy Stirling, Gregor Buchanan etc. Think we finished about 7th in League One.

Tbf i thought Kelly was the best player i`d seen in the league based on more than one game against us and a couple on TV including the cup game against St Johnstone.

Very surprised he wasn`t in the shortlist for POTY but thats maybe due to their still being the lingering stereotypes of Livingstons general style of play?

I’m a fan of Kelly as well, however the internet rumours seem to be that he’s moving to America.

Looks like Joe Shaughnessy could also be leaving the SPFL. Newcastle Jets seem confident they’re signing him.

A theory may be that our focus is signing players outwith the Scottish leagues. They did mention looking internationally. We may find most or all of the signings come from England or abroad.

I`m happy that we haven`t dived in for the same bog standard players that seem to be around every season, I still haven`t seen much go to rivals that I`m bothered about.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

From the Record -

Inverness are keen to re-sign David Wotherspoon. The experienced Canadian international is a free agent after leaving Dunfermline Athletic.

Caley Thistle boss Scott Kellacher is keen to land the midfielder. Wotherspoon had a spell in the Highlands in the 23-24 season before he moved to Dundee United. Kellacher feels the 35-year-old could help his young squad in their bid to win promotion from League One.

Wotherspoon is ready to sort out his future after being on an SFA coaching course. He has a wealth of experience from his time at Hibs, St Johnstone, United and the Pars.

A Daily Record exclusive -

`Ross County have made a move to beat Crewe and Barrow to the signing of Dean Cornelius. The midfielder is set to become a free agent after leaving Harrogate Town. The 24-year-old has other English League Two options but the Staggies are pushing hard to bring him back to Scotland.

Manager Don Cowie has identified the former Motherwell player as a top target. Cowie is looking to win the Championship and bounce back to the Premiership at the first time of asking. He has already signed Declan Gallagher, Ross Docherty, Gary Mackay-Steven, Aaron Lyall and Ben Crompton.`

Time will tell, but I suspect this is the case. I also think there will be an element of taking time to ensure the players are right.

Share this view as well. A good number of players that fans have said would be good additions, I’ve not been convinced of.

Although, listening to his Open Goal interview the other night and NL describing Tony Watt’s finishing as lethal, I do wonder if he could be one of those that “have bobbed about” that we do bring in.

Time will tell

It looks like Adam Frizzell may be the next Scot to try his luck in the Emerald Isle.

`Out-going Airdrie captain Adam Frizzell is considering an offer from Derry City. The 27-year-old has turned down a new deal with the Diamonds, who confirmed he was set to move overseas. Irish League side Derry have made a move to land the playmaker. The former Kilmarnock player is currently considering the offer.

Derry has a history of turning to Scotland for players. They have Mark Connolly, Kevin Holt, Paul McMullan and Danny Mullen, who have all plied their trade in Scotland.`

whether that was the plan or not, kind of have to focus elsewhere when you see what is left in terms of free agents up here now but wherever they came from its the same question, can you get them to agree to come and sign.

maybe Derry want Frizzell as a replacement for Thomas? wonder if there are any other guys over there that are not happy, not playing and thinking of a move back

I do believe the club is entering a new era. With the benefit of new owners, modern methods mixed with old method in terms of recruitment and development the club is only going in one direction and that`s upwards. There are no miracles, only hard work and commitment from everyone at the club. If it was easy, every club would do it. Two years to gain promotion is ambitious but realistic. You need to build a team and winning mentality that generates confidence and belief. Software can go so far, but it can`t instil that in any team of players. That comes from within. It`s about signing the right players that you can work with, have the desire to win, and improve. They don`t necessarily have to be the best most skillful players, but they should have the qualities needed to work within a team, rise to any challenge that may come up during the season and have belief in what they do. On that basis, I don`t see us signing any so called big names but players who want to join knowing the expectations of the club but also recognising what it can do for their career. It`s going to be an interesting season if anything

More from the Record -

`Morton are closing in on the signing of Kris Moore. The defender is set to move north after leaving Leeds United. The youngster was the Leeds under-21 captain but left at the end of the season. The 21-year-old is now looking to get first-team football and his senior career up and running.

St Johnstone ran the rule over Moore in January but decided to go for more senior options as they battled to stay in the Premiership. Dougie Imrie is now set to give him the chance at Cappielow. The defender has travelled north and is expected to join up with the Morton squad imminently.`
