Archie was here at a time when our pitch didn`t suit wingers. Give him a decent pitch and some quality strikers to aim a cross at and who knows?

Every other pitch must have been the same then as he was hopeless other than 1st game. He’ll play part time for sure

Tidser certainly reigned Steven’s in, consistently ordered him inside to a packed midfield when he took up wide positions. Set the lad free and let’s see what he can be!

The Courier has been speculating about players who are out of contract and may be of interest to us. The usual suspects like Gallagher and Graham are mentioned but they also suggest Ross Docherty, Tony Watt, Gary Mackay-Stevens and Reghan Tumilty.

If Docherty remained fit then he would be a very good signing

I’d take Gallagher, Docherty and Graham all day long, what an experienced spine to the team that would be.

Interested quote from article and why we may not go for Docherty, “Central midfield is not an area of priority for Dunfermline…”

I beg to differ.

I worked beside a family member of Docherty, so you obviously watch him closely over the years, for some office chat, and I must admit that he’s someone I really like and would love to see here.

He had injury and off field issues last season, which hampered his time at united, but I believe that’s all behind him now, so someone is getting a cracking player for this level.

Totally agree. We only just scraped by without ever looking convincing, and let’s be honest, there weren’t any real standout performers over the season ( Tobi maybe the only exception who is no longer here). Every single position should be up for grabs going into the new campaign. Whether it`s fresh signings or current players finally pulling their socks up, there’s a huge opportunity for someone to stake their claim.

If I was a new signing coming in, I’d fancy my chances of starting pretty much anywhere on the pitch. The competition for places could be a good thing for us as a squad. Kane’s maybe the only one who gets a pass when fit. If someone comes in, stays fit, and starts hitting the net regularly, it’d be hard to justify benching them just for the sake of kane.

Big summer ahead—no room for passengers.

c'mon the pars

Scott Bain is being released from Celtic. Only 33 years old, would certainly be a good signing for Championship plus the Lennon link.

Scott Bain didn`t play for Lennon as far as I can tell.

Loaned to Hibs but didn`t play, loan was cancelled within a month and he joined Celtic.

Bain joined Celtic in 2018 and Lennon was Celtic manager 2019-2021 so they’ll know each other well.

He never played due to the fact Celtic had Fraser Forster at the time as No.1

If we’re looking for experience, there are a few players with knowledge of the Scottish game (and who may be looking to return) whose contracts are up and are being released down south: Sam Cosgrove (Barnsley), Jamie Walker (Bradford City), Dylan McGeouch, Paul Dummet and Josh Vela (all Carlisle), Conor McAleny (Salford) and Alex MacDonald (Rotherham). Regan Hendry (Tranmere) is also out of contract but the Wirral club is “in negotiations” with him. Given the team’s fortunes when he was in the team compared to when he was injured, they would be foolish to let him leave…

Very uninspiring signings. Especially Gullan, he’s one of the poorest strikers in the league.

Morton always seem to get `raided` at the end of the season but manage to find adequate replacements. Is there any news of Dougie Imrie`s potential move to PT?

Ross Doohan, Aberdeen back up keeper heading to Celtic as 3rd choice, due to rules regarding home grown talent.

Does this free Tobi up?

Suman going from Cove to Don's as back up.
